About SEVA

South End Village Academy (SEVA) is a registered nonprofit formed by parents to save our children's school in Boston's South End after the previous management committed financial fraud. We have a board, a plan, and a community that refuses to give up.

The Croft School's previous management committed financial fraud, leaving the school's future in doubt. A group of parents came together, formed SEVA as a new nonprofit, and are working to keep the school open.

SEVA serves families from every background in Boston's South End. Over half our families receive financial aid. Every kind of family belongs here. The school was built to be diverse, inclusive, and affordable — and that's exactly what we're fighting to protect.

Yes. SEVA is a registered nonprofit organization in Massachusetts. Our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status application is currently pending with the IRS.

Donations

Click the "Donate Now" button on our homepage. All donations are processed through Zeffy, a platform with zero fees — 100% of your donation goes directly to our school.

Our 501(c)(3) application is currently pending with the IRS. Until it is approved, donations to SEVA are not guaranteed to be tax-deductible. If our application is approved, the IRS may grant retroactive tax-exempt status, which could make earlier donations deductible. We will update donors as soon as our status is confirmed.

Every dollar goes to keeping the school running — teacher salaries, rent, utilities, insurance, and classroom supplies. We are committed to full transparency about how funds are used.

Zeffy is a donation platform that charges zero fees to nonprofits. Unlike other platforms that take 2-5% of each donation, Zeffy ensures 100% of your contribution reaches SEVA. Zeffy is funded by optional tips from donors.

DAF contributions require SEVA to have approved 501(c)(3) status and be listed as a qualified public charity. Our application is currently pending with the IRS. Once approved, DAFs like Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and others will be able to distribute grants to SEVA. In the meantime, if you'd like to support the school before our 501(c)(3) determination is received, you can make a personal contribution through our donate page. These contributions are not tax-deductible until our status is confirmed, but if our application is approved, the deduction relates back to the date of your contribution.

Yes. If you'd prefer to make a direct bank transfer, please use the contact form on our donate page and we'll send you the details. This is currently the fastest way to convert a pledge into a contribution.

Getting Involved

Share our page with friends, family, and neighbors. Word of mouth is our most powerful tool. You can also volunteer your skills — we need help with communications, fundraising events, and more.

We're building our volunteer program now. For the moment, the best way to help is to share our story and donate if you can.
